    Pozoblanco (Spain), 1989.

    ​

    Araceli Calero is a spacial design practitioner and registered architect. She graduated with honors in Architecture by the ETSAS (Seville, Spain), and spent a year studying at the ENSAS (Strasbourg, France). Master degree on Production Design at ESCAC (Escola Superior de Cinema i Audiovisuals de Catalunya).

    ​Her thesis project, El Tercer Lugar, Proyecto de reconversión del Cerco Industrial de Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo was selected and presented at the International Seminary of Industrial Heritage Seville-Sao Paulo in 2015.

    ​

    Over the past years, she has collaborated with several architectural firms in France (V2S Architectes, Dominique Coulon & AssociésLPAA Atelier Architecture, Atelier WAC).​ Since 2020, she is co-founder of the architecture and design office

    vaga—estudio arquitectura y diseño with the architect Pablo Martín where they develop projects in architecture, design, graphic communication and curation.

     

    ​​She combines the professional activity of architect with photography and work as set designer and assistant art director on international feature films such as Eureka by Argentine director Lisandro Alonso, premiered at the 76th Cannes Festival or Marlowe by Irish director Neil Jordan. She recently joined the art team for director Oriol Paulo’s latest series for Netflix based on Mikel Santiago’s best-seller, La última noche en Tremor, which will be released in October 2024.

    Her work has been recognized in national and international exhibitions (XVI Bienal Española de Arquitectura y Urbanismo17th Biennale di Venezia International Architecture Exhibition Spanish Pavilion) and she has worked as a lecturer at different european universities (Universitat Politécnica de Catalunya, Instituto Europeo di Design, Shifta-Elisava).​
